Michelle Mildenhall

Michelle Mildenhall is a UK based contemporary artist who creates unique, striking portraits in latex. Through her stylized imagery, Michelle seduces the viewer into a world of disconcerting beauty and mystique. By using popular but somewhat taboo themes of sexuality, and fetishism, she subversively questions the historic role of the submissive female subject within art history.

Michelle was born in Wiltshire and studied textiles and surface pattern at Somerset College of arts and technology, where she first discovered latex as a medium. After finishing she moved to London where she worked for 12 years as a commercial graphic artist. Her influences include Pop Art, Bauhaus, Aubrey Beardsley, Cornelius Makkink, Andy Warhol, Piet Mondrian and Atsuko Kudo, to name a few! Mildenhall states that she really finds inspiration from everywhere, from "Torture Garden to Typography.

Michelle has exhitbited internationally and her work has rceieved global press following from the BBC and Skin Two amogsnt others.

Michelle has carved a unique niche with her art which not only appeals to art lovers but to a new audience of latex lovers..
